Mike stumbles upon the comic book named "Crying Man". As he utters the title, the titular Superhero pops out from the pages. But it isn't just Crying Man. Mike's comic book Superheroes start appearing throughout San Francisco, triggering a string of unusual events. The Superheroes are found doing farm work, household chores, and even some are seen stealing and fighting. The media starts buzzing about these unexpected occurrences. Individuals who are able to summon these superheroes earn the title "Readers", and online communities centered around Readers begin to emerge. In the midst of this, Dirk O, a Reader and hero books collector with absurd ambitions, forms the council of comics, plunging the city into chaos. Mike and his team find themselves in a fight to protect their city and its people.
